In 1967 a major rebuild project was taking place at H-3.  The old, and lower powered radar systems were being replaced.  The meant that those systems would be completely removed leaving a big hole in radar coverage of the area.  The USMC was called up on temporary orders to set up and operate a temporary radar system to provide coverage while the upgrade project was underway.  Here is a short photographic record provided by Cpl.
